Sex and Life Coaching

What is Sex-and-Life Coaching?

I am here to partner with you in a stimulating and creative process that will help you reach your highest sexual and personal potential.  My aim is to provide support and enhance the internal resources that you already possess to make changes in your life. I will support your motivation and help you find new possibilities and alternative solutions.  I will do so while observing professional boundaries and absolute confidentiality. Sex-and-Life Coaching is conducted exclusively through verbal means of communication (no physical touching) and can resolve a variety of issues for both individuals and couples, be they straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, enby (nonbinary), genderqueer, kinky, vanilla or anything in between:

  • Sexual Commitment Issues
  • Sexual/Gender Identity Issues
  • Romantic/Dating Issues
  • Body Image Issues
  • Andropause/Menopause Issues
  • Sex and Aging Issues
  • Sex-and-Life Philosophical Issues
  • Sex and Family of Origin/Cultural Issues

How do I know that Sex-and-Life Coaching is what I need?

Are you generally satisfied but want to change something, either in your day-to-day existence or in your sex life? Would you find it useful to collaborate with a professional who can bring you a different perspective? Are you ready to commit time and effort to making some real changes? If these questions resonate with you, then you may truly benefit from Sex-and-Life Coaching to achieve your goals.

How is Sex-and-Life Coaching different from psychotherapy?

The most significant difference between Sex-and-Life Coaching and psychotherapy is the perspective of the coached client as a healthy individual versus someone who is experiencing deep psychological pain and mental dysfunction. Psychotherapy is a health care service and its primary focus is to identify, diagnose and treat nervous and mental disorders. Psychotherapy goals include alleviating symptoms, changing dysfunctional behaviors which are the result of these disorders, and helping clients cope with their psychological problems.  Sex-and-Life Coaching is not a substitute for psychotherapy, mental health care or substance abuse treatment.  Sex-and-Life Coaching supports personal growth and development based on action, accountability and conscious changes.  As a licensed psychotherapist, I will be able to assess your needs; if psychotherapy is indicated, I will provide immediate and appropriate referrals to therapists or psychiatrists in your home state. If you are located in Southern California and wish to retain me as your psychotherapist,  we may enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship after an appropriate assessment has been made. At that point, Sex-and-Life Coaching will not be an option.

What are the logistics of Sex-and-Life Coaching?

After we have exchanged introductory emails and signed our Sex-and-Life Coaching agreement, the Sex-and-Life Coaching process starts with a session either in my office or through Zoom or FaceTime. We begin by discussing your issues and challenges; we identify your specific goals, and we establish priorities necessary for action.  Subsequent sessions will occur with regular intervals, i.e. once or twice weekly and may last either 55 or 110 minutes, depending on our specific arrangement.  You may be provided some additional resources such as films to watch or articles to read in preparation for upcoming sessions; this is to support your progress in achieving your stated goals.

How long does the Sex-and-Life Coaching process last?

It depends entirely on the goals you have set out to achieve. For simple questions and answers, one session may be enough; for those who want to achieve specific long-term goals, the process may be longer. In general, 3 to 6 months is a reasonable time to expect enduring change, but factors such as working style, your real-time availability and financial resources will also affect the process.
